Compelling Question:
How do I effectively engage students in reading and writing activities?
When I began my graduate school career, I was an itinerant teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. I served students from pre-K through high school. And every one of my students was reading below grade level. Throughout the duration of my graduate school career, I have been eager to discover new ways to engage my students in reading and writing. Now, I currently teach 3rd and 4th grade at a school in Marietta, GA where even my lowest students usually pass the state tests every year. No matter at which level my students currently function, I want them to be actively engaged in reading and writing. This website takes you through my journey and what I have learned and how I have been influenced as a reading specialist. There are three main areas of my learning: Technology, Global Perspective, and Teachers as Researchers.
